AFG 3.1 AT Treadmill Review
The AFG 3.1AT is powered by a 2.75HP continuous-duty motor, which is more or less the same or perhaps a bit more powerful than other motors in this price range. The motor is certainly well constructed and is reasonably quiet in operation, which explains how AFG are able to back the motor with a lifetime warranty.
You are able to choose a speed from anywhere between .5 and 12 miles per hour, making the AFG 3.1AT suitable for running on.
The 3.1AT treadmill comes with a decent number of workout programs. There are 10 in total including Manual, Speed Intervals, Peak Intervals, Stamina Builder, Weight Loss, Golf Course, Foot Hills, Mountain Climb, Custom 1 & 2, which covers all the short term and long term fitness goals users should have in mind.
The treadbelt measures 20 x 55 inches. We expected to see a 20 x 60 inch treadbelt on a treadmill in this price range; however, we are pleased to report that the treadbelt is still large enough to provide a comfortable workout experience for even the tallest of individuals with long strides.
The best feature of the treadbelt, however, and perhaps even the best feature of the treadmill as a whole is its cushioning system. The use of standard elastomers means that the impact that running has on your joints is significantly reduced, making the AFG 3.1AT one of the best options on the market for elderly people or people who suffer from joint trouble or are in rehabilitation.
We would even go as far to say that the 3.1AT’s treadbelt is just about as forgiving and durable as you are going to get without having to pay hundreds of dollars more.
The computer console is everything you would expect it to be. It is easy to read thanks to multiple feedback windows and an 8-digit alphanumeric display, and provides you with feedback on time, distance, speed, calories burned, incline and pulse (measured via the contact heart rat grips) all to a high degree of accuracy.
The AFG 3.1AT is backed by a lifetime frame and motor, 3-year parts and 1-year labor warranty.
AFG 3.1AT User Reviews
The reviews for the 3.1AT treadmill have been positive. Users feel that this treadmill from AFG offers good value for money, is very well-constructed, quiet in operation, easy to assemble and has an excellent cushioning system. However, one user thinks that the console’s display could be improved upon and the machine should vibrate less on higher speeds.

We have a couple of things to complain about. While the programs are very well-designed and work as they should, we still would’ve appreciated a few more just to mix things up a bit. The lack of support for wireless heart rate monitoring is also a bit of a shame.
Anything Else You Should Know?
The AFG 3.1AT also comes with a built-in speaker system, iPod and MP3 compatibility, and features a foldable design for quick and easy storage. The treadbelt’s incline can also be increased up to 15% which is 3% greater than usual, allowing you to make your workout more challenging if desired.
We feel that AFG have got it right with this treadmill, from comfort and workout experience to the warranty. While a few more programs and wireless heart rate monitoring would’ve been nice additions, these are the only faults we could find with the 3.1AT.
