Bowflex Blaze Home Gym Review

Priced at under $1,000, the Bowflex Blaze Home Gym gives users the opportunity to perform over 60 exercises, targeting all the various muscle groups in the body. With its 210 pounds of Power Rod Technology resistance (degradable to 310 to 410 pounds) there is also plenty of room for strength-training growth.

While the Bowflex appears to be one of the better home gyms on the market, it’s not perfect, as there are a couple of issues.

Exercises

The Bowflex Blaze Home Gym can be used to perform over 60 different exercises, including 16 arm, 14 shoulder, 13 leg, 9 back, 8 chest, and 5 ab exercises, offering a great deal of versatility.

The lat tower with angle lat bar has been designed to help you build back and shoulder muscles; the leg extension/leg curl attachment helps you develop strong, muscular legs; while the lower pulley/squat station is perfect for performing squats and building up your quads, hamstrings and glutes.

Furthermore, the seat, which smoothly glides along a rail, allows you to perform leg presses and aerobic rowing. You can even perform custom workouts thanks to the inclusion of triple-function hand grips and ankle cuffs with multiple cable/pulley positions.

Power Rod Technology (Resistance)Bowflex Blaze Home Gym Folded

According to Bowflex, the Power Rods on the Bowflex Blaze Home Gym “feel as good as or better than free weight lifting.” There is also no risk of feeling any pain in your joints – pain commonly associated with free weight strength training, although we wouldn’t strictly agree with this (See Any Complaints?).

However, one thing is for sure: the Power Rods are incredibly strong and durable. In fact, Bowflex have backed the rods with a lifetime warranty, which speaks volumes about their quality. For example, you can flex the rods repeatedly and find that they won’t lose their resistance or break.

It’s also worth noting that the Power Rod Technology provides up to 210 pounds of resistance, although this can be upgraded to 310 or 410 pounds, if needed.

Warranty

The Bowflex Blaze is backed by a generous warranty: 5 years on the the construction and a lifetime warranty on the Power Rods.

Bowflex Blaze Home Gym User Reviews

Bowflex Blaze Home Gym Review
Bowflex Blaze Home Gym Review

Those who have purchased and used the Blaze Home Gym seem to love it, judging by its average rating of 4.6 out of 5.0.

A number of users appreciate the versatility of the machine, as they can perform over 60 exercises all on one machine and in the comfort of their own home, any time of the day or night. A couple of users also appreciate how Bowflex delivers on its promise of 60+ exercises and how it is built like a tank, as this isn’t always the case with home gyms.

The ability to “quickly switch from one routine to a completely unrelated routine” has also been praised, as well as the fact that using the Bowflex is “much safer than free weights,” as there is no need for a spotter. According to one user, “if used properly you will see great results,” which is a sentiment shared by many others.

However, the Bowflex is by no means perfect. There have been a few complaints, ranging from the inability to perform a couple of exercises if you’re very tall (6′ 4″), the fact that the resistance ratings are overly generous, and the inability to perform a leg press, as the “strap that goes around your back digs in to the point of pain.”

5-starBowflex Blaze Home Gym is Excellent !!

This machine is built very well and should last a long time. My old bowflex power pro is still going strong but since I got it 19 years ago I figured it was time for an upgrade. Many nice improvements and really like the fact that the leg extension/curl and lat pull down are built in. It folds up nicely and looks great. Still get the same great workout. If you don’t like going to the gym , waiting in line and listening to music being played on the intercom that you don’t like..then I think you will really like this bowflex.

It takes about one minute to set it up from the folded position to your first exercise I do a 30 minute work out 3 times a week and have no excuse for not doing it,because it’s ready to go when I am 24/7. Best part…no gym fees and pays for itself in a couple of years.

5-starBowflex Blaze Home Gym is awesome !!

I bought this 8 years ago and it still is working just as well as the day I got it. I do not work out as much as I used to (mainly due to 3 kids). This was and still is a great workout machine for me.  I feel like I am saving money in long run because I am not buying into a gym.

Any Complaints?

The Bowflex has a tendency to fall when you’re moving the it, as the lat bar has this uncanny ability to not rest on its mountings when folded up. The company also state that there is no risk of feeling pain in your joints; however, some pain can be felt in your joints, especially when pushing yourself, although the pain is less intense and occurs less often than with free weight strength training.

Anything Else You Should Know?

The Bowflex has a maximum user weight capacity of 300 pounds. Besides this, all you need to know is that, while the Bowflex Blaze Home Gym may be expensive, the difference in the quality between it and other, cheaper home gyms is significant.

Everything just feels that much better constructed, with the overly generous warranty putting our mind at ease in the rarity that any damage occurs, we appreciate just how easy it is to switch exercises, as well the number of exercises that can be performed. Not to mention, joint pain is far less of an issue with the Bowflex.
