Diamondback Fitness 1260Ef Elliptical Trainer
When it comes to fitness equipment, Diamondback aren’t as well known as some of the “big boys”, such as LiveStrong, Schwinn and Precor. In the world of BMX, however, they’re a very popular brand – even I used to have one of their bikes when I was a kid – but this doesn’t mean that they don’t know to to design an elliptical trainer.
On the contrary, the Diamondback Fitness 1260Ef Elliptical Trainer has received some much deserved exposure after having being featured in Consumer Reports, where it was awarded a top rating. However, this isn’t to say that the machine is perfect – there are a couple of minor issues – but you would struggle to find a more reliable elliptical in its price range.
Many elliptical trainers on the market take up a large amount of space. For comparison purposes, take the Sole E95. It is 80” in length, while the length of the 1260Ef is only 69.5″, which begs the question, why do other elliptical trainers take up more space than they need to?Therefore, if you haven’t got a lot of space to work with, then this elliptical may fit the bill.
While the Diamondback Fitness 1260Ef may have a smaller footprint than other ellipticals, this doesn’t mean that it’s unstable. One of the main reasons for its stability and sturdiness is the weight of the machine – 230 lbs. Consequently, it can be used by larger individuals, with Diamondback stating that the maximum user capacity is 325 lbs – although, we feel that this might be pushing it. To be on the safe side, we recommend only individuals who are 300 lbs and under use this machine.
Many individuals – particularly those who are short – have a hard time mounting elliptical trainers. Fortunately, this particular elliptical features a low step-up to the pedals, making it a good choice for shorter individuals.
When looking to buy an elliptical, many people are not sure what to look for, so they end up purchasing a machine that does not feature an adjustable incline or stride. Fortunately, the Diamondback Fitness 1260Ef Elliptical Trainer contains an adjustable incline, which is beneficial for a number of reasons, but primarily because it results in a more challenging workout, in which more muscles can be targeted and more calories can be burned in less time.
Heart Rate Control
Wireless heart rate control has been included (in addition to the heart rate monitoring system which can be found in the handlebars), giving you the ability to control your workout rate according to the level of your pulse. In other words, your heart rate dictates whether you should undertake cardio training, fat burning training, interval training and so on.
Front drive elliptical trainers, such as the 1260Ef and Horizon Fitness EX-69 – have many advantages to them, one of which is that the pedals are close together. This leads to a more comfortable workout experience, particularly for women and individuals who are smaller in stature, as there is no need to struggle in order to reach the pedals
The LED console has been intuitively designed, making it easy to make any adjustments as you work out, and to switch between the 13 programs, custom workouts and 5 heart rate interactive programs.
The console is also equipped with a large LED display with 4 data display windows, which monitor distance, RPM, pulse, speed, calories burned, calories burned per minute, incline, intensity level, segment time, time, watts and percentage of maximum heart rate.
The Diamondback Fitness 1260Ef comes with a lifetime frame and brake, 5 years parts, 1 year parts and 90 day wear items warranty.
69.5 x 27.5 x 65 inches
The overall consensus of the 1260Ef is that it is a very good elliptical trainer, with special mention going to the construction quality, the minimal sound heard when in operation, and the quality of the workout received. However, reviewers also state that the assembly process could be improved upon.
