What impresses users the most when it comes to the Livestrong LS8.0E Elliptical Trainer, apart from the reasonable price, is the comfortable 20” stride. Ellipticals in this price range often have an oval stride that results in a bouncy workout experience. However, on the LS8.0E the stride is more elliptical, which means that it feels more natural and elongated.
Livestrong are able to offer users such a comfortable workout experience thanks to their SIXSTAR certification criteria, which is focused on utilizing the “unique combination of the six key elements needed to deliver the smoothest, most natural elliptical feel available.” The SIXSTAR certification includes:
The LS8.0E is equipped with pedals that have minimal distance between them, which eliminates stress on both the hips and back.
The spacing of the handlebars is optimal, with the grips being positioned within ideal reach and distance for both smaller and larger users.
The long, natural elliptical stride is able to minimize fatigue, while simultaneously mimicking a natural walking or running motion.
The straight-up body posture design is able to keep your body upright as you workout, for an increased level of comfort.
The LS8.0E has been designed with a large drive pulley action, which creates a smooth, efficient motion.
The pedals are placed low to the ground, which results in an easier step-on step-off.
Apart from the SIXSTAR certification, other features include:
The Livestrong LS8.0E Elliptical Trainer comes equipped with nine different workout programs which do a good job of challenging you and adding variety to your workout. Programs include, weight loss, manual, strength builder, muscle toner, mellow Johnny’s trail, constant watts, Lance’s climb, manual 1 and manual 2.
The incline can be adjusted, so you are able to target many lower body muscle groups, while simultaneously increasing your cardio workout. The only downside to this is that it is not an automatic process – you have to manually make adjustments.
The flywheel weighs 23 lbs, which further contributes to one of the most natural and smoothest elliptical strides on the market.
The Livestrong LS8.0E is quite heavy, weighing in at 192 lbs. While this means that you may struggle to move the machine from one location to the other, it also means that it is a very stable piece of equipment and has a maximum user capacity of 300 lbs.
The ability to point the fan directly at your core is a nice touch, and comes in handy to keep you going through a tough workout.
This elliptical comes with a lifetime frame and brake, and 1 year parts and labor warranty.
24 x 67 x 76 inches
The LS8.0E has received solid reviews since its release, with users noting how easy the assembly process is, how well constructed the machine is, and how smooth and quiet it is when in operation. The only complaint is in regards to the console, which is rather basic in its functionality. Then again, you can’t expect a fully-fledged console in this price range, especially with the inclusion of a range of workout programs.
Besides the console, there isn’t much to complain about. If we were being fussy we would say that the sound quality of the speakers are quite poor, but then again, this seems to be the norm for elliptical trainers.
ANYTHING ELSE YOU SHOULD KNOW?
There isn’t much to add. All you need to know is that the LS8.0E is one of the better value ellipticals on the market, particularly if you can find it for under $1,000. In its price range, you may be able to find machines that are equipped with more bells and whistles, but they certainly aren’t as heavy duty nor provide users with as much of an enjoyable working out experience.
One more thing to keep in mind is that the Livestrong LS8.0E Elliptical Trainer uses the same frame as the LS10.0E and the LS13.0E, but comes with fewer features. Therefore, if you are not too concerned with the additional features, do yourself a favor and save a bit of money by purchasing the LS8.0E instead.
