Marcy Recumbent Cycle
Many people are in the market for an exercise bike that is not only inexpensive, but also well-built, effective and reliable. Unsurprisingly, not many models of exercise bikes are able to fit this criteria. However, one of the few that comes closet is the Marcy Recumbent Cycle (the Marcy Club Revolution Cycle is also a good choice).
Marcy is able to offer consumers such a bike because their ethos is to produce high quality machines with more of an emphasis on using quality parts and components, rather than packing their bikes with extra features and options.
The Marcy Recumbent Cycle comes equipped with 8 levels of resistance, with an easy-to-adjust tension-tightening knob, that do a good job of keeping your workout regimen varied, which in turn, helps to keep you motivated. You may think that a budget bike would be unable to offer you enough resistance, but you will be pleasantly surprised if you decide to purchase this bike.
Many users immediately start off on level 7 or 8 resistance, but then have to bring it down to 3-4 when they realize they can’t handle it. Therefore, this bike is suitable for both the fit and unfit, old and young, and experienced and inexperienced cyclist alike.
One of our favorite aspects of this bike is the noise it makes, or should I say, lack of noise. We’re not sure how Marcy have done it (perhaps it’s because the unit is magnetic), particularly as this is a budget bike, but it offers a very quiet workout experience. This will undoubtedly be beneficial for those of you who like to work out at odd hours, live in an apartment or don’t want to wake up the kids.
There is nothing that stands out, here. The display on the Marcy Recumbent Cycle monitors what you would expect – time, speed, distance and calories burned. Although, we are pleased to report that the display is clear, oversized and easy-to-read.
While the seat could be more comfortable (see “Any Complaints?”), it should be comfortable enough for most people. However, the real talking points, in regards to comfort, are the adjustable handlebars and foot straps, which do an excellent job of adjusting to your body structure to find a position that is comfortable to you.
It is also worth noting that the adjustable seat, handlebars and foot straps are able to accommodate all body types, sizes and heights, meaning that anyone in the family can get a good workout in.
The instruction manual recommends that 2 people should assemble the bike, but 1 person should suffice. This is because the instructions are clear and detailed, and the images make things a bit clearer and easier. It should take 1 person no longer than 45-60 minutes to set it up, and 2 people no longer than 30 minutes.
The Marcy Recumbent Cycle comes with a 2 year limited warranty.
40 x 9.5 x 23.5 inches
The Marcy Cycle has received some very favorable reviews from consumers, with users stating that the comfort, minimal noise when in operation, range of resistance levels, as well as the effectiveness of the workout are the standouts of the bike. However, not everything is good, with some users stating that the functionality of the computer monitor is limited.

Besides the limited functionality of the monitor, there are a couple of other things to complain about, although both are minor.
If you are in the market for a very compact bike, the Mag might not be for you. This is because, due to its recumbent position, it takes up more space than other non-recumbent bikes. While the recumbent design means more comfort and less strain on the joints, there is a compromise in regards to how much floor space it takes up.
The seat also does not contain as much padding as more expensive bikes, but this isn’t to say that it is uncomfortable. It’s comfortable enough, but we just wish that it came with a bit more padding.
Anything Else You Should Know?
There isn’t much to add. All you need to know is that the Marcy Recumbent Cycle is a one of the most popular budget recumbent bikes on the market – and for good reason to. It is well-built, reliable, comfortable and offers enough resistance to make your workouts varied. While some seem to hold the opinion, you get what you pay for, the Cycle is the exception to the rule – exceeding expectations.
