Merit Fitness 715t Plus Treadmill Review
The Merit Fitness 715T Plus Treadmill is a compact piece of exercise equipment that has been designed for walkers and light joggers rather than for runners, much like one of their other models – the Merit Fitness 725T Plus.
It’s quite basic in terms of technological features, coming with just four workout programs, but if you’re on a budget and want a quiet treadmill to help you lose weight or stay in shape without annoying the neighbors then it’s worth a look at.

Assembling the 715T is a fairly simple process, largely in part due to the clear, detailed instruction manual and the fact that it comes mostly pre-assembled right out of the box. All you are required to do is screw in a few bolts and attach the handles, which should take you no longer 30 minutes to an hour, and you’re good to go.

As mentioned, the Merit Fitness 715T Plus Treadmill has been designed for walkers and light joggers rather than for runners. This is because the motor, which clocks in at 2.25 HP, isn’t powerful enough for this purpose – you’ll have to up your budget if you want a treadmill that you can consistently run on.
However, the good news is that the motor is both smooth and quiet when in operation, even at its top speed of 10 Mph, making it a good choice for those who live in an apartment or like to watch TV as they work out.
The treadbelt, or running deck, measures 18 x 47 inches. Therefore, if you’re very tall then you may feel a little confined as you work out; however, everyone else should be able to enjoy a spacious, comfortable workout experience.
The best thing about the treadbelt is how something called the Aerosoft Cushioning System has been incorporated into its design. This cushioning system is able to drastically reduce any shock or stress felt on your feet and legs as you exercise, making the 715T a good choice for anyone who needs to take it easy on their joints for whatever reason.
It’s also worth mentioning that you can adjust the inclination of the running deck by up to 5% so to experience a more challenging workout, which is something that you will definitely appreciate when your endurance and fitness levels improve.
The Merit Fitness 715T Plus Treadmill doesn’t come with a wide range of pre-programmed workouts. There are only 4 in total, including a weight loss, rolling hills, intervals and manual program. However, these programs still manage to do a good job in varying your workout and keeping things interesting.
The computer provides you with feedback on the most important things that you would want to know as you work out, such as distance, speed, time and calories burned, to name just a few. Your heart rate can also be measured by using the thumb pulse heart rate monitor, which gives surprisingly accurate readings considering that this is a budget treadmill.
As mentioned, the Merit Fitness 715T Plus is quite a compact machine, making it a good choice for those who don’t have much space to dedicate towards exercise equipment. When folded, the treadmill measures only 29 by 56 by 26.25 inches.
This treadmill comes with a lifetime frame, 1-year motor, and 90-day parts and labor warranty.

Judging by over 100 reviews, the 715T is well liked by consumers, with many praising the treadmill’s value for money, ease of assembly, compactness and effectiveness.
However, you should keep in mind that there seems to be some quality control issues, although it’s rare for these to occur now that Horizon Fitness have been made aware of the problem. Still, if you don’t want to take the risk, then take a look at the Merit Fitness 725T Plus Treadmill, as it’s only marginally more expensive and has no reported quality control issues.
