Have you ever walked up a flight of stairs only to become breathless in the process, even if you were in tip top shape? Of course you have, and your breathlessness was a good thing – it meant that you were obtaining cardiovascular and muscle benefits.
Steppers aim to emulate climbing stairs, but instead of walking up and down the stairs like a crazy person all day, there is a much simpler and very reasonably priced alternative – the Phoenix 99120 Mini Stepper Plus (the Sunny Twister Stepper with Handle Bar is also a good alternative).]
Upper & Lower Body Workout
Our favorite aspect of the 99120 is its ability to workout both the lower body and the upper body, at the same time. Many steppers on the market only work out the lower body, but thanks to the resistance handles, the upper body can also be worked out.
Considering that this feature is typically reserved for highly priced steppers – not the ones that cost under $100 -makes it easy to understand why the Phoenix 99120 is such a popular stepper.
Setting up the stepper could not be any easier. All you need to do is remove the packaging, attach the meter, cord and resistance knob, and you can be working out within a couple of minutes. When not in use, the Mini Stepper Plus is easy to store, thanks to its ultra compact design.
Nothing spectacular to report here. The display tracks the calories burned, strides per minute, step count and the workout time, all on an easy-to-read monitor. The monitor requires 2x AA batteries, which are included.
The Phoenix 99120 comes with a 1-year warranty on the frame and 90-day warranty on the parts.
18.5 x 7.1 x 12 inches
The Phoenix 99120 has mostly received favorable reviews, with users noting how easy the assembly process is, how compact the machine is, and the fact that the resistance is able to offer a challenging workout. However, some have stated that there is an issue with the resistance knob.

Besides the issue with the resistance knob, a very small minority of users have reported that the stepper makes a squeaky sound, every so often. This shouldn’t be too much of a problem for most users, but it’s still important to be aware of this, so you can make an informed decision.
Anything Else You Should Know?
There isn’t much else to add. All you need to know is that the Phoenix 99120 is well-built, reliable and effective, and is excellent for targeting your quads, hamstring, gluteal muscles, hip flexors and calves, as well your upper body. While there may be better steppers on the market, they don’t come as cheap as this.
