ProFrom are renown for releasing some of the best value treadmills on the market, and the ProFrom 505 CST Treadmill (as well as the ProForm 6.0 RT) is no exception. However, this isn’t to say that the 505 CST is a perfect treadmill – there are a couple of things that we feel need changing (although, these are minor) – but the good far outweighs the bad, and at this price you can’t go wrong.

The 2.25 continuous duty motor is better suited for walkers and joggers, rather than runners. This is because it feels under powered for runners and heavy individuals. However, we are pleased to report that the motor runs smoothly and is relatively quiet, which is beneficial for those of you who enjoy watching TV or undertaking some other activity as you workout.
Similar to the motor, the treadbelt has been designed with walkers and joggers in mind. It measures 20” x 55,” which is typically not long enough to support the long stride that is associated with running.
One of our favorite aspects of the ProFrom 505 CST is iFit Live, which does a commendable job of motivating you to help you achieve your fitness goals. iFit Live enables you to customize your own fitness program, manage your workout profile, download a plethora of workouts and even work out with Jillian Michaels.
You also have the ability to map out routes via Google Maps and then track your progress as you run, which is achieved by the machine automatically adjusting the incline so it simulates the terrain on the map.
Apart from iFit Live – which needs a wireless internet connection to work- you also have the option of using one of the 15 workout programs to help you achieve your goals. These have been designed by a personal trainer and include distance, time and calorie-goal workouts.
Another feature that we appreciate is the compatible music port for MP3 players, which has been intuitively designed to rest on the console shelf so it is within easy reach. While the sound quality coming from the Intermix Acoustics 2.0 Sound System is nothing to write home about, it delivers a rich, equalized sound that is better than many other speaker systems that can be found on treadmills in this price range.
Other features include ProShox Lite 3 Cushioning, which does a good job of protecting your joints; the 0-10% Quick Incline Control, which enables you to change the incline at a touch of a button, rather than having to scroll through many options; and the 0 to 10 MPH QuickSpeed Control, which allows you to change the speed of the treadmill, again, at a touch of a button.
The ProFrom 505 CST comes with a lifetime frame, 25 years motor and 1 year parts and labor warranty.
75 x 30.3 x 11.3 inches
Users have praised the sturdiness of the treadmill, the smooth treadbelt as well as the fact that the machine is quiet when in operation. However, a few users have also stated that the heart rate monitor can be inaccurate at times.

There isn’t much to complain about. However, you should note that while ProFrom state that the maximum user capacity is 300 lbs, we feel that it is closer to 250 lbs.
Anything Else You Should Know?
There isn’t much to add. All you need to know is that you would have a hard time finding a better treadmill for the price (the Merit Fitness 725T Plus Treadmill comes close, though), particularly as ProForm always do an excellent job of equipping their machines with innovative technology which can rival the technological features that can be found on more expensive models. If you are neither a serious exerciser or significantly overweight (over 250 lbs) then you should look into the 505 CST.
