Many of Schwinn’s other elliptical’s come with an 18” stride. While that used to be the norm for elliptical trainers, nowadays, a stride of 20” is considered to be the standard. The advantage in a longer stride is that it gives you a more elongated, natural elliptical motion as you workout. It also provides a more comfortable working out experience for individuals who are over 6 feet tall. Another good choice is the Schwinn 460, which has a variable stride.
The Schwinn 450 comes equipped with adjustable handlebars, which you can change the positioning of, so you can target your upper body muscles more effectively.
The 450 is Schwinn’s first elliptical trainer that offers users the ability to adjust the incline. This is beneficial for a number of reasons, but primarily because you can target your lower body muscles more effectively and enjoy a more intense workout. However, keep in mind that the 6 position ramp adjustment is a manual process, whereby you must first get off the machine before you can make any adjustments.
The foot pedals are articulating which means that they move in line with the elliptical motion in order to reduce foot lift, so to improve the overall comfort of the workout. However, your foot still tends to lift off the pedal to a certain degree.
Programs & Resistance
The Schwinn 450 comes with 16 resistance levels and 11 workout programs which do a good job of adding variety to your workout, while simultaneously challenging you. The 11 workout programs include, 8 profile workouts, a quick start program, a distance goal program and a fitness test program.
The multicolored LCD display is easy-to-read and simultaneously monitors a range of stats, including speed, distance, calories burned, pulse, resistance level, watts, RPM, time, interval time and course profile.
Speakers & Fan
The 450 comes equipped with a 2-speed fan that delivers a cool breeze of air to your core, and speakers with MP3 capability. However, both these features are considered to be the weak point of the 450 (see User Reviews).
The Schwinn 450 comes with a 5 year frame, 1 year parts and electronics, and 3 months on wear parts warranty.

Anything Else You Should Know?
There isn’t much to add. All you need to know is that Schwinn’s previous models, such as the Schwinn 431 and Schwinn A40, are very popular and have been met with acclaim. The Schwinn 450 is similar in this aspect, but you also get a heavier machine that is more stable, a longer stride and the ability to adjust the incline.
