Sole Fitness SB700 Exercise Bike Review

Flywheel

The Sole Fitness SB700 chrome plated flywheel weighs a hefty 48 pounds, which goes a long way in explaining how Sole have managed to make the pedalling motion and workout feel so smooth. However, another plus is how the flywheel works with the braking system to ensure that your workout is very quiet, even when you’re pushing yourself to the max.

Braking System

We absolutely love how the SB700 utilizes a Kevlar braking system. Kevlar brake pads are known to be unrivalled when it comes to smooth, controlled braking performance. Due to the way in which they are designed and manufactured- Kevlar aramid-fibers and fine metallic particles – the pads have a very long lifespan and the braking power is noticeably better than full organic or carbon/graphite organic pads.

Comfort

The Sole SB700 fitness bike is surprisingly comfortable for a spin bike. Much of this is down to the well-padded seat, but there are a few touches that really do make the difference when compared to other bikes. For example, both the seat and handlebars can be adjusted up/down and fore/aft to cater to all users; and the pedals come with toe straps so your feet won’t slip off when cycling.

Computer Console

The computer console measures 3 x 4 inches and displays RPM, time, calories burned, speed and distance. Wireless heart rate monitoring is also supported, allowing users to stay within their target heart rate zone as they work out which we feel is a nice addition. We love how a chest strap is included, as you usually have to purchase one separately as well.

Warranty

The SB700 is backed by a lifetime frame, 3-year parts and electronics, and 1-year labor warranty.

Sole Fitness SB700 Fitness Bike User Reviews

The Sole SB700 has been received favorably by users. Owners point to the bike’s construction quality, easy assembly process (see video), resistance system, smooth and quiet workout, and display as its strengths. The only complaint, according to a couple of users, is the company’s customer service.

Any Complaints?

The bike is very low on technological features, with no built-in programs and speakers. While this tends to be the norm for spin bikes, you are still able to find a few models that come with these features nowadays.

However, if it was a conscious decision by Sole in order to focus on the workout then we have no complaints, as we would probably class the SB700 as one of the best spin bikes on the market in terms of performance.

Anything Else You Should Know?

The SB700 measures 42 x 21 x 40 inches, has a maximum user weight capacity of 300 pounds, and comes with a water bottle holder and transport wheels. Surprisingly, the resistance level is not controlled digitally via the computer console – you must turn a resistance knob instead.
