The Universal Decline bench (Universal UB100 Decline Bench) made by Nautilus is an extremely affordable piece of exercise equipment that lends itself well to a variety of exercises such as sit ups and crunches. The bench is free standing and offers 2 different legs positions. It also has 8 inch padded rollers and the entire padding on the bench makes for a more comfortable workout while being firm enough to give you the support your need. It also has two decline positions.
The bench does appear to be fairly solidly built for the weight capacity stated, however the limited 200 pound user weight makes this decline bench unusable for many people who enjoy working out using a decline bench. In addition, we find that while the warranty on the frame of this bench is quite good considering the price, but we find the 30 day warranty on the upholstery quite short even for a budget decline bench.
Overall, If you are going to manufacture a simple piece of exercise equipment to meet users fitness needs then then that piece of equipment needs to be incredibly well built and functional and we feel that while this bench meets the basic needs of some users it definitely could be improved upon.
This decline bench is quite comfortable. The padding cushions both the feet and the back making working out less stressful on your back. The only reason we didn’t score this bench higher on comfort is due to the fact that this bench is quite small and several users stated that their head touched the floor when using it. The 200 pound weight capacity is also a comfort issue as it means that people who could most use this bench to get fit may be too heavy to get any benefit from it.
The Universal Decline Bench by Nautilus comes with a 2 year warranty on the frame and 30 days on the upholstery. While we feel the frame warranty is actually quite good we do find that the upholstery warranty could be somewhat longer.
The Universal decline bench measures 17” X 23” X45”
This decline bench is designed for users who weigh 200 pounds or less

Some of the complaints regarding this decline bench are confusing, while others are justified. For example several users state that this bench is really small and designed more for children than adults. While we agree that this bench is not large, there are users who are 6 feet tall that state they can use this bench comfortably leaving us to wonder why so many people of slightly shorter stature than 6 feet find this bench to small to be used comfortably.
Some users feel that this bench does not decline at enough of an angle and many users complain that the end caps on the rollers keep falling off.
Overall, while this decline bench is far from perfect, it has proven itself useful to many users and the price would be difficult to beat.
