Lifecore LC-985VG Review

Lifecore LC-985VG Elliptical Trainer ReviewThe popularity of the Lifecore LC-985VG Elliptical Trainer has surged in recent years, thanks to the Best Buy rating it received from a top consumer product review magazine.

While this elliptical may not be for some, those who are looking for a reliable, compact machine will struggle to find a better model, particularly as other manufacturers of cheap elliptical trainers, such as Weslo and Image, are renowned for producing machines that break after a year or two.

Compact Design

As mentioned, the LC-985VG is a very compact machine. When assembled, it only measures 52” x 30” (many ellipticals have a length of in excess of 80”). Therefore, this is ideal for those of you who have limited space to work with.

Foot Pedals

The adjustable foot pedals on the Lifecore LC-985VG Elliptical Trainer do a good job of letting you tailor their positioning until you find a position that works for you. This is not only beneficial for comfort reasons, but also because it allows you to find a position where you can focus on targeting different muscle groups.

Enclosed Bearings

Many elliptical machine manufacturers – particularly those that produce compact machines – use bearings in some of their pivotal parts. However, the problem with this are not the bearing themselves, but the fact that they wear after frequent usage. Fortunately, LifeCore have equipped the LC-985VG with enclosed bearings on all their pivotal parts, which drastically reduces service and wear issues.

There are 12 preset programs and 4 heart-rate control programs which do a good job of simultaneously adding variety to your workout, while also challenging you, whatever your fitness level may be.

Ellipticals in this price range often feature non-backlit LCD displays that are hard to read. The Lifecore LC-985VG, on the other hand, uses an easy-to-read, oversized, multicolored LED display that tracks pulse, watts, calories, distance, speed and time.

This elliptical comes with a generous 5 years parts warranty, which speaks volumes about the quality of components used, and a 1 year labor warranty.

User Reviews

The LC-985VG has received some very favorable reviews, with users stating how smooth, compact and easy to use the machine is. Others have stated how they like the fact that the machine makes minimal noise when in operation and the inclusion of several workout programs, particularly as they help them stay motivated. However, not everything is good, with no magazine or book holder and a slightly confusing computer interface being the top complaints.

Any Complaints?

Besides the points mentioned above, the only complaint can also be seen as something that is advantageous. The unit only weighs 125 pounds, which means that it may not be stable enough for heavier individuals who like to work out strenuously, although LifeCore state that this particular elliptical has a maximum user capacity of 300 pounds. But then again, this means that it doesn’t take up much space and is easy to move around – particularly important for those of you who have limited space.

Anything Else You Should Know?

There isn’t much to add. All you need to know is that the Lifecore LC-985VG Elliptical Trainer is one of the best elliptical trainers in its price range. It has been built for durability, and thanks to the innovative engineering and design, it is very quiet when in operation. If you are looking for a quiet, reliable – and perhaps most importantly – compact elliptical, you should consider the LC985VG.

The price of the Lifecore LC-985VG Elliptical Trainer varies depending on where you buy it from, but the cheapest we’ve seen it is on Amazon.
