If you’re looking for a compact, folding treadmill that is reasonably priced and puts more of an emphasis on the workout experience instead of technological features, then the LifeSpan TR100 Compact Treadmill is certainly worth a look at (if you’re looking for the opposite, check out theLifeSpan TR1200i).

However, that isn’t to say that the treadmill doesn’t come with a few bells and whistles, because it certainly does. For example, there are built-in speakers and a headphone port for your MP3 player.

Due to its design – the folded frame only measures 11 inches thick – the TR100 collapses quickly and fits under a bed, behind a door, or in a closet. Another benefit of its design is how it comes fully assembled and is ready to use right out of the box, which is a pleasant surprise considering that treadmills usually take a couple of hours to assemble.

The TR 100 runs on a 1.5-horsepower continuous-duty motor, enabling it to reach speeds of 0.5 to 8 miles per hour and making it suitable for walking, jogging and running on. There are also 5 built-in workout programs to choose from, which all do a good job at mixing up your workout.

The running deck measures 17 x 48 inches, which is a bit on the small side, although this is expected considering that the TR100 is designed for those looking for a compact treadmill.

The computer console can be considered to be basic in its functionality, if you compare it to some of the higher-priced treadmills on the market. However, it provides you with feedback on all the important stats, including time, distance, calories, speeds, steps, and heart rate – recorded via the built-in sensors found in the hand grips.

The console is also easy to use, as it features a quick-start option, up/down arrow keys, and a speed option with buttons to skip directly to 3, 4, 5, or 6 miles per hour – much appreciated, considering that some treadmills only allow you to adjust the speed in 0.1 mph increments.

The TR 100 has a maximum user weight capacity of 250 pounds, is backed by a lifetime frame, 5-year motor, and 1-year parts and labor warranty, and measures 60 x 31 x 52 inches.
