The Livestrong LS6.0R Recumbent Bike is one of the company’s higher end models of exercise bikes. Although not being quite as expensive as the very highly rated Livestrong LS9.9IC-2 Indoor Cycle, it can still offer users a good workout.

It comes equipped with many of the same features that can be found on slightly more expensive recumbent bikes, but with one major difference – LiveStrong Interactive.

The machine is very well constructed, but LiveStrong’s selling point has always been the technological features they include on their equipment, with the LS 6.0R being no exception.]

As mentioned, the technology LiveStrong equip their machines with is their selling point. LiveStrong Interactive allows you to track all of the details of your workout, in addition to being able to upload your data to MyPlate, via the included USB device.

MyPlate allows you to enter the food you have consumed onto the online daily food journal, and then see feedback on the calories you have burned and the calories you have consumed, which can help you achieve your fitness goals more easily.

There are 20 levels of magnetic brake resistance and 11 preset programs. The resistance levels and workout programs do an excellent job of adding variety to your workout, while providing enough of a challenge for even the fitness of individuals.

You can start at a low level of resistance and/or an easy program, and then gradually move up levels as you start to build up your strength and indurance.

Although the flywheel seems to be much lighter than the ones that can be found on other bikes in this price range, the cycling motion is still very smooth and quiet, and the Livestrong LS6.0R manages to stay stable as you workout. Perhaps the smoothness can be explained by LiveStrong’s patented FreeSpin technology, which is able to eliminate sudden or jarring stops as you pedal.

The padded mesh back with lumbar support seat is incredibly comfortable – certainly one of the most comfortable seats that can be found on a recumbent exercise bike. However, exercise equipment that is equipped with a mesh seat tends to provide a few problems – see Any Complaints.

CONSOLELivestrong LS6.0R Computer Monitor

The bright, easy-to-read LCD display and pair of LED windows accurately provides feedback on everything you could want to know during a workout, including speed, distance, time, calories burned, resistance level, program type and more.

Your heart rate is also recorded to a high level of accuracy via the contact heart rate grips, which does a good job of taking the guesswork out of working out in your target heart rate zone.

The Livestrong LS6.0R comes equipped with a built-in speaker system that is compatible with all MP3 players as well as iPod’s. The sound quality is by no means spectacular, but unless you’re an audiophile, there is no reason to complain.

While not exactly a feature, we thought that it was worth mentioning that, with every purchase, LiveStrong donate a small chunk of the money to the Lance Armstrong Foundation and the fight against cancer. The company’s target is to donate a minimum of $4 million.

The Livestrong LS6.0R comes with a 10-year frame and brake, 1 year parts and labor and unlimited in-home repairs warranty, which is one of the most generous warranties in this price range.

The LS6.0R has generally been well-received by consumers, with users stating that they like the quietness of the bike when in operation, the smoothness of the ride, the comfort of the seat, as well as the range of workout programs and levels of resistance. However, some users have stated that there is a problem with the seat.

A few users have complained about the seat tearing after a few months of use. However, this is always a risk you have to take when you purchase any piece of exercise equipment that has a mesh seat. Fortunately, LiveStrong are very good at honoring their warranty, so you can have the seat replaced free of charge.

All you need to know is the Livestrong LS6.0R is an excellent choice for those looking for a high quality recumbent bike in the $600-800 range. While the LS6.0R is similar to other bikes in its price range in regards to workout effectiveness and construction quality, if you like your workouts and progress to be tracked in a high level of detail, nothing else compares.
