Indoor bikes (or spin bikes) are able to provide an excellent low impact form of aerobic exercise without breaking the bank. However, that isn’t to say that there aren’t pricey models on the market – The Livestrong LS9.9IC-2 Indoor Cycle, which is endorsed by Lance Armstrong, falls into this category.

But is it true that you get what you pay for? Or would you be better off opting for a cheaper bike, such as the Livestrong LS5.0U?

Flywheel & Belt System

The heavy duty 40 pound flywheel and Kevlar belt system do an excellent job of providing a smooth, lifelike road biking experience. These two components also work very quietly in combination with each other, which is always beneficial if you don’t want to annoy the neighbors or wake up the kids as you work out.

The “W” shaped handlebars are fully adjustable so you can find a riding position that works for you, whatever your height or weight may be.

Like the handlebars, the seat on the Livestrong LS9.9IC-2 is fully adjustable, both horizontally and vertically. The seat comes with no preset holes so pins and bolts do not need to be adjusted or tightened, which saves plenty of time, particularly if your friends or family are also planning on using the bike on a frequent basis.

You will also be pleased to hear that the seat’s sliding adjusting mechanism is very smooth, but unfortunately the seat isn’t very comfortable.

ConsoleLivestrong LS9.9IC-2 Computer Monitor

There is nothing particularly special about the built-in console. All you need to know is that it accurately tracks your calories burned, distance, time and RPM on 3 easy-to-read, oversized LED windows.

Charitable Donation

While not explicitly a feature, we thought that it is worth mentioning that Livestrong donate some money to the Lance Armstrong Foundation and the fight against cancer with every purchase. Their target is to donate a minimum of $4 million.

The Livestrong LS9.9IC-2 comes with a 5 year frame, 2 year parts and 1 year labor warranty.

User Reviews

While there aren’t many reviews of the LS9.9IC-2 online, the ones we have found have stated that the bike is virtually silent when in operation, excels in its workout effectiveness, and it’s clear that professional cyclists contributed to the design process. The one downside is to do with the bike’s technology.

Any Complaints?

Besides being unable to export data to a computer, there isn’t much to complain about. If we were being fussy, we would say that the seat isn’t very comfortable, but this seems to be common with all spin bikes on the market. However, you can simply place a small pillow or a folded towel on the seat for added comfort.

Anything Else You Should Know?

Overall, the Livestrong LS9.9IC-2 is a very high quality piece of equipment which is well-built, affordable and comes equipped with a few subtleties that result in a very enjoyable cycling experience.
