Phoenix 98510 Easy-Up Manual Treadmill Review

[wptab name=’Our Analysis’]The Phoenix 98510 Easy-Up Manual Treadmill is aimed at those who want to work out in the comfort of their own home, without putting a large dent in their bank account. It is a manual, low maintenance and easy to store treadmill that incorporates a 12.5 degree incline and heavy duty flywheel.

At under $200, it seems like a no-brainer, but is it able to compete with higher priced models, such as the ProForm 505 CST Treadmill, when it comes to the quality of the workout and the quality of the machine?

Flywheel & Belt

The heavy duty flywheel and sturdy running belt (41” x 13”) the Phoenix 98510  is able to offer users a smooth, quiet workout experience. As this is a manual treadmill, meaning that it is not equipped with an electric motor, the belt and flywheel act as the motor by responding to your walking/jogging pace. While this might not be for some, it is the main reason why Phoenix is able to sell this treadmill so cheaply, and there is something satisfying about powering a treadmill with your own leg power.

The single button electronics display is very basic, but tracks everything that you would want to see as you work out, including time, distance, speed and calories burned.

Assembly & StoragePhoenix 98510 Easy-Up Manual Treadmill Review , Phoenix 98510 Foldable Design

One of the best features of the 98510 is the ease at which it can be folded and stored. This is because of the spring loaded pull pin that locks the treadmill in the upright position. The pull pin is very secure and easy to release when you want to use the machine. However, there is one caveat with storage – see “Any Complaints.”

The assembly process is simple- particularly as all the tools that you need are included in the box- and should take one person no longer than 20-30 minutes to set up.

The Phoenix 98510 comes with a 1 year frame and 90 days part warranty.

Any Complaints?

There isn’t much to complain about, especially considering the low price. However, when the time comes to store the 98510, you must unscrew some parts, which is a bit of an inconvenience.

Anything Else You Should Know?

If you are looking for a no-frills treadmill and just want a reliable, affordable piece of equipment to work out on, the Phoenix 98510 fits the bill. While experienced runners and exercisers would do better to look elsewhere – particularly if you like your fitness equipment to come packed with technological features – first time buyers and bargain hunters would struggle to find a better treadmill.
