Phoenix 98900 Power Rower Review

[wptab name=’Our Analysis’]The Phoenix 98900 Power Rower falls into the budget rowing machine category, and so doesn’t come packed with a wide range of technological features. However, what you’re getting is a durable rower that can offer you a full body workout in the comfort of your home without paying a fortune for the privilege, which is good enough for most people who want to lose weight or stay in shape.

Rowing Motion

As you might expect from a budget, entry-level rower, the rowing motion doesn’t feel as if you are rowing in a boat on the water. However, it feels both smooth and comfortable, without any sudden jerks or stops occurring as you row.

No unnecessary strain on your joints is felt as you work out as well, making this rower a good choice for those who need to take it easy on the joints for whatever reason.

Many other entry-level rowers, such as the Stamina Air Rower, use wind as resistance. In other words, the faster you row the greater the resistance. While this works perfectly well, some people prefer a magnetic resistance system, which the Phoenix 98900 Power Rower has.

The benefit of a magnetic resistance system is that you can adjust the resistance to a level that is in line with your short term and long term fitness goals. For example, if you want to build up upper body strength, turn the resistance adjustment knob to a high setting so your workout is more challenging. If you want to take it easy, then simply turn the knob to a lower setting.

This form of resistance works very well, and it’s also good to know that the rower is both smooth and quiet on all levels of resistance, which is good news if you live in an apartment and don’t want to annoy your neighbors or like to watch TV as you work out.

Phoenix 98900 Power Rower LCD Display

The Phoenix 98900 comes equipped with a four-window LCD monitor which tracks time, distance, speed and the number of calories burned. However, the calorie counter seems a bit off and the information can be hard to read, as the windows are quite small.

Considering its low price, the Phoenix 98900 Power Rower is surprisingly comfortable. The seat has been made from molded polyurethane and is therefore well padded to ensure that your backside won’t hurt as you row – something that is all too common with rowers. The foot plates are oversized and feature adjustable velcro strips, making it unlikely that your feet will slip off as you row and interrupt your work out.

StoragePhoenix 98900 Power Rower Folded

Thanks to the foldable frame and wheels which can be found on the bottom of the machine, storing the rower is a straightforward process.

The Phoenix 98900 is backed by a 1-year frame and 90-day parts warranty.

Any Complaints?

As mentioned by users, the calorie counter is inaccurate, although this was always going to be the case considering that you aren’t asked to input your weight and height. The display is also a little difficult to read, although not overly so.
