Schwinn AD2 Airdyne Exercise Bike Review

For a while now, Schwinn have set the standard for dual-action fan bikes, in the form of the Schwinn Airdyne AD4 and Evo Comp. However, these models tend to be too expensive for most people, so many have no choice but to opt for another bike which tends to be of lower quality. But all that has changed this year with the release of the Schwinn AD2 Airdyne Exercise Bike.

Full-Body WorkoutSchwinn AD2 Airdyne Exercise Bike Review

The Schwinn AD2 is able to deliver a full-body workout thanks to the inclusion of the moveable handlebars. The handlebars move in synchronization with your pedaling motion, so both your upper and lower body gets worked out at the same time. This means that your muscles grow in proportion with each other, which is fortunate because it can look strange if your lower body is toned and upper body is not.

Infinite Resistance

30 years ago, Schwinn revolutionized exercise bikes when they pioneered wind resistance technology. This resulted in an exercise bike that featured an infinite amount of resistance. This is beneficial because it allows you to push yourself as hard or as little as you want, by increasing or decreasing your pedaling motion. Or in other words, the faster you pedal, the more wind resistance there is and thus the harder the workout becomes.

The infinite resistance is the main reason why the Schwinn AD2 and Schwinn dual-action fan bikes in general are so popular. No matter how fit or unfit you are, or how serious of a cyclist you are, the AD2 is effectively tailor built for you.

Computer Monitor

The LCD monitor provides feedback on calories burned, time, distance, RPM and speed. There isn’t much to say apart from that it is simple to use and the readings are accurate.

Deluxe Floor ProtectorsSchwinn AD2 Airdyne Exercise Bike Review

The deluxe floor protectors do a good job of protecting your carpet from rubbing and you floors from being scratched. However, just to be on the safe side, Schwinn recommend that you place an equipment mat underneath; although, we feel that the included floor protectors should suffice.

Transportation Wheels

Transportation wheels can be found on the bott
om of the Schwinn AD2 for easy transportability when the time comes to put the bike into storage.

If you have ever purchased exercise equipment before, then you know how frustrating it can be to spend hours assembling the machine when all you want to do is start exercising. Fortunately, the Schwinn AD2 is rather simple to assemble, partly due to the clear, detailed instructions but mainly thanks to the design of the bike itself.

The Schwinn AD2 bike has received favorable reviews from the majority of consumers, with users stating that they like the ease of the assembly process, the low price, the fact that they can work out their whole body, as well as the infinite amount of resistance. Any Complaints?

The only drawback of the AD2 is the seat. Some users have found the seat to be a little on the uncomfortable side thanks to the lack of padding  However, this can be rectified by either purchasing a gel seat cover, or if you want to save some money, by placing a small folded towel on the seat.

One more thing worth mentioning for those of you who have no idea about the difference between magnetic and air resistance bikes is that air resistance bikes are a little louder than magnetic ones. This isn’t really a complaint per se, as this is the norm for bikes with an air resistance system. We just thought that you should know this if you do end up purchasing the AD2.

Anything Else You Should Know?

All you need to know is that the Schwinn AD2 is one of the top air resistance bikes on the market, which is reflected in the generous warranty and rave reviews.

Coincidentally, the other most highly regarded dual-action fan bikes are both produced by Schwinn, in the form of the Airdyne Evo Comp & the AD4  Airdyne. Therefore, if you want the quality of a Schwinn bike but are unwilling to splash out on the Evo Comp or the AD4, do yourself a favour and opt for the AD2. However, if you weigh more than 250 lbs you may have no choice but to opt for the AD4 or Evo Comp.
