Smooth Fitness Agile DMT-X2 Elliptical Trainer Review

[wptab name=’Our Analysis’]

The Smooth Fitness Agile DMT-X2, which is an improved version of the Smooth Fitness Agile DMT Trainer, is one of Smooth’s most popular elliptical trainers for a number of reasons. For a start, it is a durable and reliable machine that lives up to Smooth’s reputation when it comes to quality. It also features a concept called Dynamic Motion Control.

Dynamic Motion Technology

Dynamic motion technology offers users the ability to work out in a range of motions, instead of being confined to just a fixed elliptical stride. This is beneficial because it results in a more intense cardio workout, which targets and tones both the lower and upper body muscles.

It is also beneficial because using a dynamic motion as you work out results in less stress and strain to your joints, as well as putting more emphasis on working out your abs and arms –two of the most frequently cited areas of the body in which people want to see results.

Foot Pedals

Many elliptical trainers, even those with articulating foot pedals, tend to cause stress and discomfort to the ankles and arches. However, the Smooth Fitness Agile DMT-X2 is equipped with ergonomically designed foot pedals that move with the natural rotation of your ankle, which eliminates this problem by reducing the amount of pressure that is applied to your foot.

Smooth have included a feature on the handlebars that allows you to adjust both the dynamic motion and intensity, without you having to break your stride or take your hands off the handlebars. The handlebars also feature sensors to measure your heart rate, where the intensity of your workout is determined by your pulse.

MySmooth Technology

Many manufacturers of elliptical trainers are starting to equip their machines with personal training programs that can help users achieve their fitness goals more easily. The Smooth Fitness Agile DMT-X2 Elliptical Trainer is no exception.

MySmooth gives you the ability to go online and customize a workout that is in line with your fitness goals. You also have the option of transferring your workout stats from the machine to your online profile to help you track your progress.

LCD DisplaySmooth Fitness Agile DMT-X2 Console

The easy-to-read LCD display is one of the more attractive consoles that can be found on elliptical trainers. It displays everything you would expect it to, including calories, pulse, watts, program level, distance, time, speed, RPM, motion profile and resistance profile.

Speakers & MP3 Compatibility

The Smooth Fitness Agile DMT-X2 comes with built-in speakers, which offer the same sound quality found in many other ellipticals in this price range. However, their advantage lies in the apex being focused directly at you as you workout. You also have the ability to plug in an MP3 player or an iPod directly into the iPod docking station.

The Smooth Fitness Agile DMT-X2 Elliptical Trainer comes with 9 challenging workout programs, including heart rate control, watts control, interval motion endurance, interval intensity, fat burning, target calories, target time, target distance and manual.

The built-in adjustable fan with 3 speeds is a nice touch, particularly as the majority of fans found on elliptical trainers are nothing more than a novelty, which do not provide a powerful breeze of air. Fortunately, the DMT-X2 is the exception.

This elliptical comes with a lifetime frame and brake, 7 years parts and electronics and 2 years labor warranty.

User Reviews

The DMT-X2 has been met with some very favorable reviews since its release, with users stating that the smooth, comfortable elliptical motion; effectiveness of the workout; and console are its real selling points.

However, not everything is good, as a few users have stated that the sound quality of the speakers isn’t very good and there have been complaints concerning Smooth Fitness’ customer service.

Any Complaints?

Besides the sound quality of the speakers, there isn’t much to complain about. However, you should note that the machine is quite heavy, weighing in at 233 pounds, so you may have difficulty moving it from one location to the other. One more minor issue is that while the instructions are both detailed and clear, you can still expect to spend a couple of hours assembling the unit.

Anything Else You Should Know?

There isn’t much to add. All you need to know is that the Smooth Fitness Agile DMT-X2 is a very solid and stable machine that lives up expectations. It has been awarded an Excellent rating for both construction and exercise range, by a popular consumer review magazine. It is packed with features, and while we would be hesitant to pay $3,800, it is a steal if you can find it for under $2,000.
