Sunny SF B1001 indoor cycling Bike Review

[wptab name=’Our Analysis’]Consumers looking for an exercise bike which is cheap, well-built and can also offer a good workout tend to have a hard time finding a bike that matches this criteria. What usually happens is that they either buy an inexpensive bike, only to be left disappointed, or they fork out an additional few hundred dollars for a better model.

However, the Sunny SF-B1001 Indoor Cycling Bike seems to be the exception. That isn’t to say that it is without its faults – there are a couple – but there is a reason why it is one of the most popular inexpensive exercise bikes on the market.

Build Quality

The SF-B1001 is well-built – certainly more so than other exercise bikes in this price range- and should be able to withstand frequent usage, which is primarily down to the heavy-duty crank and steel frame.

The bike weighs in at 85 pounds – 30 of those is thanks to the flywheel – and can support a maximum user weight of 220 pounds.

Despite the price, the Sunny SF-B1001 is actually a comfortable bike. The seat and handlebars are fully adjustable so you can find a position that works for you. And although you would expect a large amount of noise to come from the chain drive mechanism, you will be pleasantly surprised, which is always beneficial for those of you who like to watch TV as you workout.

While it would nice for this bike to include an automatic adjustment mechanism (the resistance can be changed by manually turning the adjustment knob), it just isn’t feasible considering the price. However, we’re pleased to report that the multiple resistance levels do an excellent job of challenging you, whatever your fitness level may be.

AssemblySunny SF B1001 indoor cycling Bike Review

Assembling the SF-B1001 is easy enough. All you have to do is assemble the legs, seat post and handlebar – all of the other parts come pre-assembled – which should take you no longer than 15 minutes.

Storing the bike is even easier; largely in part due to the relatively small size of the machine, but also thanks to the transportation wheels which can be found on the bottom of the bike.

Just like Sunny’s recumbent models, like the Sunny Folding Recumbent Bike, the SF-B1001 comes with a 1 year frame and 90 day parts warranty.

Any Complaints?Sunny SF B1001 indoor cycling Bike Review

There are a couple of things we don’t like about this bike, but they are minor. One is that it is only suitable for those who are 5 feet and over. The other is that you shouldn’t expect to receive a true road bike feel. However these are just minor inconveniences, and it would be difficult to find another exercise bike that is as well-built and reliable for the price.

Anything Else You Should Know?

There isn’t much to add. All you need to know is that the saying, “you get what you pay for,” is wrong in this case. One reviewer puts it best: “I was hesitant on buying a $200 dollar bike, my theory is you get what you pay for, Right? But, sometimes you are proven wrong.”
